Fuji seen from Lake Suwa
The horizontal distance from Hamamatsu to Fuji is about 115km,
about 95km from Tokyo, and about 91km from Lake Suwa.
There are Kami-Suwa Suwa city, Shimosuwa town, and Okaya city around Lake Suwa,
and Shimosuwa town, Takabocchi-yama and Shiojiri pass in Okaya city
are well known as places with a view of Fuji.
Shimosuwa town is known not only as a temple town of Suwa-Taisha
but also as a town of stage and spa along the main artery of Koshu-kaido and Nakasendo.
And those Ukiyo-e prints are well known such as
"Shinshu Suwako" in "Fugaku Thirty-six Scenery"
by KATSUSHIKA Hokusai, and
"Shinshu Suwa-no-mizuumi " in "Fuji Thirty-six Scenery"
by UTAGAWA Hiroshige.
On the other hand, the Shiojiri pass in Okaya city was the hub of the old Nakasendo,
and from the observatory of the pass are seen Fuji, Southern Alps, and Yatsugatake mountain range.
Those Ukiyo-e prints are also well known, such as
"Shiojiri" in "Sixty-nine stages of the Kiso-kaido" by KEISAI Eisen, and
"Shinano Shiojiri pass" in "Fuji Thirty-six Scenery" by UTAGAWA Hiroshige.
Firstly, I will show you "Shinshu Suwako" by KATSUSHIKA Hokusai,
"Shinshu Suwa-no-mizuumi " by UTAGAWA Hiroshige,
and "Shiojiri-tohge Suwa-no-kosui-chohboh" by KEISAI Eisen.
In these pictures Fuji is drawn beyond Lake Suwa and mountain ranges,
together with Takashima Castle called Floating castle of Suwa,
and with pine trees in the near distance.

The small shrine and two pine trees on the protruding rock in the near distance
are impressive to me in this picture.

I dropped on Kohama in the early evening, on October 16, 2012.
For the next photography, I confirmed the place.
I also confirmed the castle tower of the Takashima Castle.
As depicted in Ukiyo-e, the Takashima Castle would have been seen clearly
in those days when there were no modern building.
