Visit to Shakusuien Garden

I visited Shakusuien Garden to see Yodomari-ishi on Oct. 14, 2008.

I was permitted to enter by the desk of Takeda Hospital. Admission free !

This garden is known as
"Mountain villa of Shigemori" who was TAIRA-no-Kiyomori's firstborn son
and as an existent garden in the end of the Heian era as follows.

Pond expands east and west. We see the western part of this garden.
We can see 5 Yodomariishi ranging nearly east and west on the pond.

Yodomari-ishi is said to be ships anchoring at the harbor in the evening.

5 stones of Yodomariishi (often used for bank protection or sometimes used for bed of houses)

View seen from the stone bridge of the east side

The central islet seems to be "Tortoise islet". You see, an Arbor with blue roof at the left back.

This garden gives us quiet contentment indeed.
