Fall color of standard type of Norway maples is usually yellow, but Norway maple has a long history and has many kinds of its cultivars. Some of them show reddish yellow fall color. Let me show you them.

Let me show you horticulture kinds of the Norway maple (Acer platanoides), and they can be seen anywhere in Europe. It is also famous as roadside trees. The following horticulture kinds are well known as those of Norway maple.

Upper left is called 'Schwedleri' whose leaves are a little brownish and the shape of the leaf also differs from that of the original species. Upper right is 'Crimson King', whose leaf-color is purplish red and it is an European version of "Nomura" maple which is very popular in Japan. Lower left is 'Drummondii' and the perimeter part of a leaf is white and beautiful. Lower right is 'Globosum' and the feature is having thickly crowded leaves.
