Mt. Fuji seen from Nihon-daira

Nihondaira is located between Suruga area & Shimizu area in Shizuoka city.

You can see Shimizu area, Shimizu port, Suruga Bay and Miho-no-matsubara(Miho pine grove) stretch below.

Miho pine grove is expanding toward the center of this picture from the right side.

Mt. Fuji, Shimizu area and Suruga Bay

The picture composed of three components such as Mt. Fuji, Seikenji Temple and Miho pine grove
with Suruga Bay has been traditionally represented since the Muromachi era.

The spot where we can see the composition of this traditional pictures
would be Nihon-daira and the circumference.

A piece of Japanese Ukiyoe print "Miho-Rakugan" by UTAGAWA Toyokuni,
composed of Fuji, the Seikenji Temple and Miho pine grove, is as follows.

Those Japanese painters who represented such pictures including the upper three components are
SESSHU Tohyoh (1420-1506), KANOH Tanyu (1602-74), KANOH Sansetsu (1590-1651),
UTAGAWA Toyokuni (1802-35) and others.

And what's more, those painters who represented this view realistically are
SHIBA Kohkan (1747-1818), GOSEDA Yoshimatsu (1855-1915),
MATSUOKA Eikyu (1881-1938) and others.
