Visit to Nanzen-in Garden
I visited here on Oct. 14, 2008.
Passing through the Sanmon gate of Nanzen-ji Temple, walking to the east,
and then passing through the Roman style waterway of red bricks, I went up the stone steps.
Scenery of the waterway "Suiro-kaku" of red bricks ,
on which is streaming the water called "Sosui" from Lake Biwa to Kyoto city
According to the brochure,
This is a "Going around pond style Garden", the typical one in the end of the Kamakura era, and it has a special kind of flavor or atmosphere, composed of profoundness and quietness, which might be produced by the deep grove encompassing this garden.

The lower pond seen from the west of the Abbot's Hall, with the islet shaped by the Japanese character for "heart"
Those components, such as the upper & lower ponds, the cascade and the surrounding grove,
would give this garden a flavor of deep mountains with quietness.
