Mt. Fuji in spring seen from the old Misaka Road in 2012
I received a letter of "Mt. Fuji seen from the old Misaka Road on Apr. 15, 2012"
from Mr. ASANO Yasuo, a friend of school days living in Ohta-ku, Tokyo.
According to his message, I will explain in place of him.
At first, I will show you the Fuji floating on a field of clouds.
When I began going up, I could not find Mt. Fuji at all.
But it suddenly appeared to me on the way going up the Misaka Road.
An image of YOKOYAMA Taikan occurs to me.
The following is Fuji seen from the Tenka-chaya teahouse on Misaka pass.
Misaka pass is one of "Fujimi-sankei", together with Hanamizu Slope and Saigyo Pass,where "Fujimi-sankei" means "Three Fuji-Viewing Spots from Yamanashi Pref. side.
The following is Mt. Fuji seen from the top of Mitsu-tohge-yama.
I continued to follow the snow thawing path to reach there.
We can read the following scene in the novel gFugaku hyakukeih written by DAZAI Osamu.
There a teahouse master talk and explain the invisible Fuji to Dazai and his friend;
"Unfortunately, Mt. Fuji cannot be seen today with the mist,
but it will clear up in a few hours, then you can see the clear Mt. Fuji just there."
On the way home, I dropped in at Lake Motosu.
But the cloud had come out, and I could not see Mt. Fuji.
Then, I took the photograph of a signboard with a photograph of Mt. Fuji
after the most famous Fuji-photographer OKADA Koyo.
"Spring Fuji" made us feel the existence of "haze and cloud."
