In the group of Acer tschonoskii, there are Acer micranthum and Acer tschonoskii in wide meaning. When we observe Acer tschonoskii in detail, we can see not only standard species Acer tschonoskii which inhabit the subalpine zone north of Central Japan, but also Acer tschonoskii ssp. australe inhabiting south of Northeastern district in Japan.
